Star・Sunクラスの部屋にはコーナー遊びの設定があります。
積み木コーナーと工作コーナーです。この２つのコーナーには、「毎日片付けないでいいよ」と言ったルールがあります。
このコーナーの片付けは、週に一回、金曜日に行うことになってはいるのですが、子どもたちの遊び込む様子を見たり、意見を聞いたりしながら片付けをするかしないか決めています。
今、このクラスで数週間継続し、取り組んでいる活動が工作コーナーでの「家づくり」です。子どもたちが「屋根を作ろう」その為には「柱がいる」「紙を丸めて柱にしよう」「外から見えないようにしてみたい」「だったらスダレのような壁を作ろう」「中には何がいる？」「キッチンがいる」「食べるところがいる」と時間を掛けて作ってきました。昨日の続きが出来る事ではじめはバラバラだった思いが一つになっていきます。そして家の中を覗くと沢山の箱があります。箱を積み上げているだけ？の様にも見えるのですが、クラスの子１０名全員に聞くと「これはキッチン」だと同じ答えが返ってきます。
片付けない良さは子どもたちが遊びを継続していく事で、クラス全体が一つになり、取り組んでいく場の広がりに繋がっていきます。

Here it is: The Good Thing About Not Cleaning Up
Star / Sun class has a play corner setting in their room. Recently it’s being used as a building block and a work corner. This area is covered by a rule that states, “Don’t clean up every day.” It is to be cleaned up once a week on Friday,
The teacher observes the children while they play and listens to their inquiries and perspectives. Only then is a decision made on whether to clean up or not.
For the last several weeks the main activity taking place in this play space is house building.
Teacher: Hey kids, “Let’s make a roof. To do that we are going to need some pillars.” Kids: “Let’s make them by rolling paper into pillars.” “I want to make it invisible from the outside.”
“In that case we’re going to need a wall.” “What’s inside?” “There is a kitchen.” “There is a place to eat.”
Projects like these take time to complete. By continuing on from the previous day, the disagreements that the kids have in the beginning little by little become the same shared goal. If you look inside the house, you will find many boxes that look randomly stacked around inside. But If you ask all 10 children in the class, you will get the same answers. For example, “This is the kitchen.” So the good thing about not cleaning up is that the children continue to play, and the whole class becomes one, which leads to the expansion of the place to work / play in.
