フルムーンの玄関口にたくさんの昆虫がいることは以前お伝えしました。

　今、カブトムシのメスは卵を産む準備をしている様です。
クワガタムシはマイペースな感じ。カブトムシより寿命が長い事もあり、いつも元気に動き回っています。

　そんな中で一番活動的なのがスズムシです。
朝夕の涼しい時や、子どもたちが登園し園が少し落ち着いた頃から沢山鳴いています。
保護者さんの中には、お子さんと立ち止まり、その音色に聞き入っておられる姿もあります。「しっかり子どもに楽しんでもらいたい」と話されていました。

スズムシは英語でBell cricket という様です。
今が旬です！

Bell Crickets
There are many insects at Full Moon International and they keep coming around from time to time.
Around this time, it seems the female beetles are preparing to lay eggs. Stag beetles work at their own pace and seem to have a longer lifespan than ordinary beetles, who seem to always move around energetically.
The most active of the insects around is the bell cricket. Usually when it is cool in the mornings and evenings, or when the parks and gardens are calm, they tend to make a lot of noise.
Some parents visiting a park with their children stop to listen to the sounds produced by the crickets and wonder in amazement.
Bell crickets are called “suzumushi” in Japanese and this is the season to find them around.
