絵本にはたくさんの魅力があります。
物語性に浸かる、言葉の豊かさ、絵の表現の楽しさ、それに加え、作者の思いが沢山詰まっているのも魅力です。
　作者によっては３年間の製作期間をかけ、猫や亀が出てくる内容だったら、その期間、ペットとして飼うことから行なっていきます。作家が真剣に向き合い作り上げた作品です。
　
　保育教諭は作者の想いなども加味しながら、担当するクラスの子どもたちにBestな絵本を選択し読み聞かせていきます。クラスの子に合った、言葉や文章の量、表現、内容、絵の表現だったりを読み取り、子ども達が食いつくであろうTimelyな時に読み聞かせを行います。
　読み聞かせのポイントをあげるとしたら、読み手は、一人ひとりの目を見て語る。本の高さは画面が子どもの正面に向くよう無理のない姿勢にする。ただ読めば良いのではなく、場面に合わせた「間」を大切にする。逆光で読まない。ゆったりとした雰囲気を作り丁寧に読む等になります。
そしてそれらが全てが備わった時、写真のように担任の視線を感じながら安心して聴き入る場が生まれ、一人ひとりの個性的な表情を見ることができます。

Picture books have many charms.

Some authors take 3 years to prepare to write a book. Some even get pets such as cats or turtles and use the experience with them over the time to create their stories.
When it’s story time the teacher selects a book and reads it to the children in class. But we don’t just read the story. We do it taking into account the thoughts of the author. We read giving thought to the expressions, contents, and pictures. All done in a way that suits the children’s imaginations and feelings to keep their attention spiked.
Some important points of reading aloud are: maintaining eye contact with the children, keeping the book at a height that is comfortable for the children to see, reading at a pace that’s not too fast or too slow and gives pause when needed, being conscientious of the lighting so that it’s not to bright or too dark, and creating a relaxed atmosphere by reading carefully.
And when all of this comes together, you get a picture perfect place to listen with peace of mind. You can feel the connection between the teacher and students and see the unique facial expressions on everyone’s face.
